![]() Announcing our THIRD jewelry class where you will learn to make your own genuine gemstone stretch bracelets or copper beaded cuff! The stretch bracelet class is for any experience level and any age. The copper beaded cuff requires you to work with pliers, therefore you'll need a bit more skill to create this design. Pick one or the other! We'll be there to instruct you. No matter who you are, if this class seems like fun to you we encourage you to register. We will be hosting in the Shaw Gathering Space at The Village Arts Factory - where our very own Studio 12 is located. Please register no later than March 17, so we have enough time to gather materials for you. The class will begin on at 6pm and go until 7pm on March 24. The feature gemstones you can make bracelets with are Carnelian & Pyrite. These are two stones are full of bold energy and should be part of your collection. Lets make some fun jewelry together! <3 The first step in cleaning copper jewelry is to gather your supplies. You will need:
Avoid using abrasive cleaners or brushes, as these can scratch the surface of the copper and damage the finish. To begin cleaning your copper jewelry, mix a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water in a bowl. Dip the soft cloth into the soapy water and wring it out until it is just damp. Gently rub the cloth over the surface of the copper jewelry, using circular motions to loosen any dirt or grime. If your copper jewelry has any intricate details or hard-to-reach areas, use the small soft-bristled brush to gently scrub those areas. Be sure to use a gentle touch and avoid applying too much pressure, as this can also cause scratches. Once you have thoroughly cleaned your copper jewelry, rinse it off with warm water to remove any soap residue. Gently pat the jewelry dry with a soft cloth, and then allow it to air dry completely before storing it away. To help prevent tarnishing and keep your copper jewelry looking its best, avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures, and moisture. Store your copper jewelry in a cool, dry place, and avoid storing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources. It is also a good idea to regularly polish your copper jewelry to restore its shine. To do this, you can use a commercial copper polish, or make your own by mixing equal parts lemon juice and salt. Apply the polish to a soft cloth and rub it over the surface of the copper jewelry, using circular motions. Rinse the jewelry with warm water and pat it dry with a soft cloth. By following these simple steps, you can easily clean and maintain your copper jewelry and keep it looking beautiful for years to come. With a little bit of care and attention, your copper jewelry can be a treasured part of your wardrobe for many years to come.
If you're in the market for new copper jewels, check out our collections and see which pieces speak to you! ![]() Happy November!! It feels right to share our most recent catalog page of orange hued crystals for autumn. Each gemstone is wrapped in copper wire and tape then electro-formed into copper pendants and attached to solid copper chains with accent beads to match. This selection features Hematoid Quartz, Singing Tangerine Quartz, and Carnelian Chunks. Orange is a vibrant, bold, and attention grabbing color which is why it's one of our favorite colors. It's that color pop you put on to boost your mood or add that extra UMPH to your confidence. Orange is playful which is an energy we NEED if we want to get through moments that are too serious. What gives these orange crystals their vivid color? Minerals included in the crystals formation or encrusted on the surface of the crystal: Iron or Iron Oxide, aka Hematite. ![]() The color orange is a warm, stimulating and cheerful color. It is believed to increase energy levels and creativity. Orange is a great color to wear in the fall season because it helps you maintain a happy mood and stay warm. Each of these orange crystals are a quartz variety. While the carnelian is a mixture of quartz & chalcedony, the tangerine & hematoid points are quartz. Quartz crystals are formed in the earth's crust. Quartz is the most common mineral on Earth, making up about 12% of the planet's crust. Quartz is also one of the most common gemstones, with over 90% being quartz crystal. It is found in many different colors and varieties. Quartz crystals are formed when silicon dioxide molecules are heated to a high temperature and then cooled quickly. Carnelian Nugget

"Smokey Citrine came about in 2019 when my partner Citrine LaCroix and I discovered that we both share a love and appreciation for gemstones, crystals, minerals, and stylish goods. We also love the mining and gem trading experience. We take annual trips to different mines around the U.S. to source gems. There’s something very relaxing and therapeutic about getting dirty and searching for crystals in piles of rocks and mud. We also love to buy gemstones directly from miners and ethical gem traders from all over the world."
"Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
There are always shifts and changes when it comes to art and fashion. As time goes on, I see exclusive and limited-edition art becoming less of an elite thing and more normalized throughout all levels of society. In the past, only certain people bought and appreciated art and collected rare creations. Now it appears that more people are exploring their creative side. In the future people are going to want more handmade things that are unique and related to them in some way. People will prefer buying high-quality custom goods directly from the creator vs factory-made mass-produced products that were designed to be thrown away after a few uses. Unique wall art, jewelry, and décor will be just as important as a sofa and television set and people will venture to local markets and small shops to find these goods. "
Since childhood I've felt a deep and unspoken connection with our mother earth. I'd spend day after day exploring her endless creations with every sense. As I get older the less time I spend actually surrounded by her offerings and bounty. I am connecting with her in another way though - through gardening. It just feels right. I've never really been able to keep plants alive until now. The journey is bringing me back to life from the stale shell I felt I was becoming in this digital age. On occasions I've helped my grandmother, mother and aunt upkeep their gardens in the spring and through the summer. One year in Kalamazoo we grew the most gigantic mammoth sunflowers and I played in their presence day after day. Photographing their center, chasing bees, and measuring my height up to theirs. We also had a vivacious moon flower vine. These flowers taught me about night shades and the ability to grow / bloom at night! These are all memories that give me strength and remind me of the natural abilities I have as a human woman. Here is a look at the progress of my small indoor garden. I will be moving the bell pepper sprouts outside today in honor of Mother's Day! Be blessed. All that you need is abundant.
We are so excited to announce you can shop Smokey Citrine gemstones and hand made jewelry at Town Peddler Craft & Antique Mall in Livonia off Plymouth Road. We had a moon flower near the back door of my childhood home in Kalamazoo, MI. It was a glorious and magical sight. The trumpet shaped flowers opening up at night under the moonlight. Their white glow. The gigantic moth species they attract. Their spiked seed pods. (It was only later their poisonous reality was revealed - after people died from eating them.) Moon Flowers are truly something from a fairytale, magical motion picture, or a dreamy state. This childhood memory is what inspired the pieces in this multi-phase jewelry collection. The vision of utter beauty, mystery, and even danger. The allure. The ability to bloom at night like the Moon Flower. Who could have imagined that? For the Moon Flower Collection I sourced gemstone beads that remind me of mature Moon Flower plants abundantly blooming at night with the full moon shining on them and attracting lunar moths.
Abundant fragrance, large deep green leaves, blossoming white flowers, a vision in the night.
Abundant fragrance, large deep green leaves, blossoming white flowers, a vision in the night.
This is a divinely feminine energy with vitally masculine expression - a naturally glorious inspiration for jewelry design. Inherent beauty with the instinctual need to reveal it. The desire to obtain and devour but the necessity and warning not to. Alluring aromas with distinct boundaries. Flirtatious Danger.
Powerfully Mysterious the Moon Flower.

Some crystals were sourced by our hands and travel directly from the earth or a local miner.

I designed with Copper, Brass, and Silver metals for this collection. One set features 14k gold and copper, our first pieces to feature gold. The main vision I went for is a 'Moon Glow'. Meaning the glow of any item at night refracting the moons light and that halo of glow around the moon in the night sky. This is why I chose glowing greens and flashing sheens in beads. For something to glow, there needs to be stark contrast between colors. Darker tones of stones give depth to the jewel. Some gemstones flash or glow with color, motion or at a glance. The metals durably linked together one loop at a time. Adorned with solid metal chains, all so we can connect and synchronize with the gemstone beads.
Jewelry is more than a pretty little thing. It's an honoring of your being. The adorning and appreciating of your spirit. Connecting with the earth through the ancient wisdom instilled within crystal formations. The natural shapes. Each creation we're inspired to make with them. Jewelry is romantic like basking in the moon light, blossoming just like the Moon Flower. The honoring and blessing of your body with jewels as beautiful and naturally occurring as you.
Gemstones can highlight and inspire great attributes within us. Every collection is made with gemstone energies in mind but these most recent designs are my most potent. How do we connect with gems? There are many ways - wearing jewelry among them... I like to read about gemstones. Crystals hold their own as company in any room. I like to live with them around to see if there are any noticeable differences in aspects of my life, my energy, and over all emotions. You can meditate with them to experience their auras or add to yours. Experience crystal energies during any plethora of activities. Get active, play sports, work out, go hiking, climbing. Anything. Some gemstones are especially attuned to specific energies. All gemstones can connect with us. The metals have properties too.

Phase II of the Moon Flower Collection features my first precious metal clay rings. They are made of .999 fine silver with a spirit quartz pressed into the surface. This crystalline texture is why I call them 'Silver Spirit'. It felt amazing to use a torch again after years of wrapping wire. There are incredible possibilities ahead and I cannot wait to explore metal clays more.
There is not a warmer metal combination than Copper and Rose Gold and this necklace / earring set is a perfect example. We used solid 14k rose gold lever-back ear wires for the earrings as well as a 1.5 mm elongated cable chain for the necklace. These Chlorite included Smokey Quartz are sourced directly from Brazil by way of Brian Cook with Nature's Geometry. You can see the crystal points are set in electro-formed copper. The accent beads are deep red tones Mook Jasper sourced from a local bead shop in Metro-Detroit. A stunning set to say the least.
You may notice a motif of vintage key pendants in phases of the Moon Flower Collection. These are Secret Garden Keys. The keys are thrifted and vintage. If we think of the different phases of the collection as areas in a Moon Flower garden - These keys unlock areas of the gardens perhaps with cast iron fences and fancy sculpted topiary walls. That's at least how I imagined them - unlocking various dreamy sections of flower, sculpture and crystal filled gardens. Perhaps a couple drawing or paintings are in order.
Phase II will begin releasing online this week and into May. The first three bracelets are available now as well as the Silver Spirit rings and the 14k Rose Gold, copper & smokey Quartz earring/necklace set. Thank you for being here. For any questions, custom inquiries, or sizing adjustments - never hesitate to reach out! <3 Citrine

I printed a million copies of this word search and handed them out for halloween last year. Here are the files with the answer key, free for your to download. Print some for yourself. It's kind of fun to do and may inspire you to research some crystals. <3 There are two versions. One has more letters and words than the other. The puzzle with more letters and words is a bit more tricky than the one with less. Words are spelled in more directions and the grid is larger with more words to find.

You're probably wondering what is The Village Arts Factory? The short answer is it's where Smokey Citrine just opened Studio 12! On June 25, 2021 we officially opened our space to the public! But did you know there are many other studios located in this lovely facility? We chose this space because there are so many fantastic people whose studios are located right in this building. There's also a pretty interesting history associated with it!
What you may not know about The Village Arts Factory is it's right next to the last factory built by Henry Ford while he was alive. In that time it was built to supplement income for people when the Willow Run Bomber Plant shut down and to assist with rehabilitation of veteran soldiers after WWII. You can read more about the history on The Village Arts Factory Website. I am sure there are folks and resources that know more about the origins and history of this space. If anyone has knowledge they'd like to share, please reach out.
There are so many reasons to stop by The Village Arts Factory! We just love pulling into the parking lot and stepping into the building to work. When a break is needed we go for a short walk to the Lower River Rouge or up to Village Theatre at Cherry Hill. The sunsets here are gorgeous and there are so many flowers to enjoy along the way. After spending nearly an entire year scared to go outside, the fresh air and scenery is so therapeutic!
What can you do here?
Like we mentioned above, we chose to open our first studio space in The Village Arts Factory because of the community within the building and around Cherry Hill. There is a feeling of welcome here that is just so genuine and charming. The intention we create with holds a similar energy. We first learned about The Village Arts Factory from Kelly Caroline, who is also resident artist in Studio 8! Kelly is an incredible henna artist, painter, and mother. Her husband, Nathan, is also a camera genius!
We've fallen in love with several of our neighbors and their works as well! Kelly Darke in Studio 13 is next door and we can't get enough of the colorful embroidered fiber works made with vintage fabrics. We're also obsessed with True 2 You's double studio where you can create custom candles with all your favorite people or purchase a stunning fresco painting to adorn your space with. Across the hall from Studio 12 in Studio 11 is Good Vision Studios a professional photography business. These are just a few of the fantastic businesses featured in The Village Arts Factory at this time. There are so many things to do here and everyone is so dedicated to what they do. It's truly inspiring. Be sure to check out The Village Arts Factory some time and hey, maybe become a familiar face around these halls! I know we'd love to see you! Be sure to check out all the events going on in the building! You can see the calendar here! Just scroll down to see upcoming events!
