Since childhood I've felt a deep and unspoken connection with our mother earth. I'd spend day after day exploring her endless creations with every sense. As I get older the less time I spend actually surrounded by her offerings and bounty. I am connecting with her in another way though - through gardening. It just feels right. I've never really been able to keep plants alive until now. The journey is bringing me back to life from the stale shell I felt I was becoming in this digital age. On occasions I've helped my grandmother, mother and aunt upkeep their gardens in the spring and through the summer. One year in Kalamazoo we grew the most gigantic mammoth sunflowers and I played in their presence day after day. Photographing their center, chasing bees, and measuring my height up to theirs. We also had a vivacious moon flower vine. These flowers taught me about night shades and the ability to grow / bloom at night! These are all memories that give me strength and remind me of the natural abilities I have as a human woman. Here is a look at the progress of my small indoor garden. I will be moving the bell pepper sprouts outside today in honor of Mother's Day! Be blessed. All that you need is abundant.
